This book is a great resource for band. Basics are thoroughly covered and progress in a logical
order. The coolest part of this method is the computer software that goes along with the books. Students can play an exercise in their books into a computer microphone and it will analyze the performance.
Students can find notes that were out of tune, wrong rhythms, and wrong notes.

Bach and Before for Band
The other book used by 7th and 8th grade is Bach and Before for Band, also published by
Kjos. Music. This is a collection of chorales that will help with intonation and phrasing. This book can be used
in so many different ways. Students can form a duet or trio or quartet of any group of instruments. A flute
and a tuba can play duets. It is going to be so much fun.
